Teens will create glamorous, wearable headdresses inspired by the opulence of the roaring ‘20s, using a variety of materials – including rich, velvety lamé fabrics, beading, feathers and “jeweled” embellishments – to mimic the styles and flair of the period.

Providence Public Library in collaboration with RISD|CE presents From Turbans to Tiaras: Headdresses of the Roaring ‘20s, part of the Library’s exhibition and special program series Portals: History of the Future. These fashion design classes integrate interest-driven exploration with historical content and 21st-century skills. Students will have access to the library’s non-circulating Special Collections materials to inspire their own work. Work created in class will be displayed at the Providence Public Library.
